Catersource + The Special Event is all about event pros, and that means it’s also all about seeing event spaces and getting event ideas. That’s why every year, the first activity of the week is a venue tour, which lets a limited number of attendees board buses and visit some of the destination’s coolest event spaces.

This year, the focus was on combined food and event spaces. Not only were they great venues with excellent food and beverages; they were a great way to see and taste the local Texas flavor.

At Desert Door, attendees chose from a colorful cocktail menu where they tasted sotol from the United States' only sotol distillery. Cocktails included a Ranch Rita (Desert Door Original Texas Sotol, lime, prickly pear, agave), Desert Paloma (Desert Door Original Texas Sotol, grapefruit, grapefruit shrub, agave, lime), Spicy Matador (Desert Door Original Texas Sotol, pineapple, lime, agave), Sotol Sangria (Desert Door Original Texas Sotol, Fall Creek tempranillo, lemon, lime, Bubbs Hill Country seltzer), and Ranch Water (Desert Door Original Texas Sotol, Topo Chico, lime). In case you missed it this year, head on over to Special Events to take a look back at the venue tour experience!
