Buffets are one of the most popular styles of catering an event and, in many cases, buffet tables act as another place to add a touch of décor. The tables are usually filled with food, dishes, and flatware, but that is not to say there is not room to add some special details!
Here are some great ways to jazz up that buffet display at your next event.
Opt for votives
Pillars and taper candles can take up a lot of space (and can be a fire hazard!), so votives are the perfect choice for a busy buffet spot. Small yet impactful, votive candles will add a soft glow to any table. They also come with the added benefit of needing votive holders, which can certainly be a place to get creative. Votive holders come in all colors, shapes, and sizes, so thinking outside of the box can lead to a unique and personalized design.
Hanging lanterns
If table space is scant, you can always look upwards for inspiration. Hanging lighting is on-trend these days and also makes for a visually dynamic buffet display. Consider stringing up hanging lanterns with LED candles inside. Be sure any hanging décor is high enough that it does not get in the way of guests as they get their food.
Under table lighting
Likewise, busy buffets can make a statement with under table lighting and leave the surface to food. String lights are perfect for this – they look dazzling when hidden behind a sheer white linen! While string lights offer more of a twinkling effect, a battery-operated lantern can provide more of a soft all-over glow. Think about the look your client is after and pick the choice that fits their vision the best.
Spell it out
Marquee lighting is a popular trend and there’s no better place to use these letters than at the buffet area! Stick to simple words like “FOOD” and “BAR” to maximize the value and still get that fun Broadway-inspired effect. Plus, people will know exactly where to go for food and drinks!
There are countless ways to design your buffet as an eye-catching display. If your plans involve open flames, be sure to discuss with the venue coordinator and caterer to ensure that everything is planned according to fire regulations.
