Saltbox Kitchen Catering, West Concord, MA, is expanding its event menus with custom Saltbox Kitchen Brewery beers offered as 2.5-gallon and 5-gallon kegs for business and social events of all kinds.
“The ability to share our beer with our catering clients is a big win for us. Like our food, our beers are an extension of the farm experience that we aim to deliver to all our guests. This opens up an exciting new option for custom kegs at weddings, business events and other functions,” Chef/Owner, Saltbox Kitchen Ben Elliott said.

Led by Chef and owner Ben Elliott, Saltbox Catering offers full-service catering for all types of events. The Saltbox team designs seasonal, farm-inspired menus that highlight as many ingredients from Saltbox Farm as possible. Built by Chef Ben's grandparents in the 1940s, Saltbox Farm is the main source of inspiration for how Saltbox Catering cooks and thinks about food. By using organically-grown vegetables, honey, eggs, lamb and hops, Saltbox Catering continues Concord’s long agricultural tradition while ensuring a sustainable future for the farm that has served as a foundation for Chef Ben’s life.

Saltbox Kitchen Brewery opened in 2016, serving only at its namesake café for consumption on site or to-go in growler bottles. The beers are made using hops grown on nearby Saltbox Farm as well as with fruit, herbs and vegetables harvested there during the year. Saltbox Kitchen Brewery regularly offers a selection of four beers: Saltbox Prophecy Farmhouse Ale, Top Bracket IPA and two rotating brews dubbed “seasonal” and “experimental” in which head brewer Ralph Fiegel employs his chef skills to find new styles of beer and ways to incorporate ingredients grown on Saltbox Farm. Recent beers from the rotating selection included the Nickerbocker Rye, Saltbox Farm Hop IPA, Pumpkin Pale Ale and an Apple Saison.

A recent licensing change now allows the brewery to offer larger format kegs to serve private events. In addition to providing beers that are currently on tap at the brewery, private event hosts will have the option to choose one of nine existing seasonal recipes (30-day notice required). Clients can also opt to brew a completely custom recipe for their event for which lead times vary. Working with the brewers at Saltbox, the style and flavor of the beer can be personalized, brewed and served at the host’s event. There is also the potential to collaborate with the Saltbox Farm cooking school for a beer making party. The keg prices range from $50 to $100 depending on size and ABV.
“We are really excited to bring this new service to our corporate, social and wedding events. Adding a custom keg takes personalization to the next level, especially for beer connoisseurs,” Fiegel said.
