Island Sangria
Courtesy The House of Angostura
Yield: 12 (depending upon glassware)
Ingredients
I bottle pinot noir
6 oz Amaro di Angostura
3 oz cognac
.5 oz Angostura orange bitters
1-1/2 oz honey
3 oz pure cane sugar
2 lemons
2 limes
2 oranges
Garnish: citrus wheels
Method
1. In a large vessel, add wine, Amaro, cognac, honey, and sugar. Stir until sugar and honey have dissolved.
2. Cut each of the citrus fruits in half, hand squeeze the juice from each half into the mixture and then drop the remaining fruit in as well.
3. Give the mixture a good stir, refrigerate, and allow to sit. Note: 24 hours is ideal, but a few hours will be fine. The longer the mixture sits, the more flavors it will extract from the oils of the citrus fruits.
