Tips for Memorable Tabletops

Today’s couples are looking for ways to create tablescapes that are both memorable and unique. Most of the wedding is spent at the reception space and, for cocktail-hour celebrations and seated dinners alike, the table décor is always front-and-center as guests mix and mingle. A remarkable tabletop is not a difficult feat, but it can take some careful consideration to ensure it is exactly what a couple has envisioned.

Want to get inspired for 2017? Here are some of our top tips for designing truly memorable tablescapes:

Moving on up

Who said a tablescape can only include what is on the table? One of the major trends on the event scene is the use of vertical space. Couples are taking advantage of the area above guest tables with hanging floral arrangements and lanterns with candles inside of them. This is the perfect way to create some dynamism in the event and draw guests’ eyes upwards—plus, it can keep the table clear (save for some smaller flowers and votive candles) for open conversation.

Mix and match

There is never anything wrong with a little variety! One way to keep things interesting is to mix and match tabletop designs. Keep a cohesive design throughout, but feel free to experiment with shapes and sizes throughout the event space. Mix in some tall, over-the-top centerpieces with smaller, subtler arrangements for an interesting feel at the reception.

Keep it personal

In addition to the typical floral arrangements and candles, look for ways to incorporate a couple’s relationship into the design of the tablescape. For example, table numbers that are named after favorite movies, or framed photos of the couple throughout the years, are a great way to infuse their personalities into the design. This not only creates a unique and customized space for the couple, but also acts as an icebreaker for guests who may not know each other so well. For cocktail-style receptions, it gives guests a good reason to float around the venue and take in all of the unique personal details.

Of course, there are numerous ways to design a unique and memorable tablescape, but it’s important to remember to keep it personal and within the theme of the wedding.
