On March 15, winners of the ACE and CATIE awards took the stage at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. To enter the ACE awards, each contender was asked to identify the two events the company completed that it felt best represented the company, as well as challenges and favorite aspects.
Throughout the year, Catersource.com will profile the winners and nominees of the 2017 ACE awards. In the second installation of our series, we will place a keen eye on Bold American Events, Atlanta, GA, who took the ACE award for Operations over $2 million in the East region.

Destination South Networking Dinner
Destination South is a recognized leader and destination management company in the greater Atlanta hospitality community and Bold American Events was thrilled to work with another reputable organization within the industry. The dinner was another opportunity for the Bold Catering and Design teams to work together on a full-scale event execution project, which allowed for interwoven design and catering details and a more cohesive atmosphere throughout the small, seated dinner. Because the client is an experienced leader in the industry, guests showed a real appreciation for the event and how smoothly everything was executed.
Challenges
The networking dinner was hosted at Southern Exchange on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta, which is a grand, opulent venue that presented a challenge considering what the client desired: an approachable networking space for a smaller crowd. The catering and design teams worked together by incorporating boxwood walls and personalized catering components, such as an on-brand tablescape, to transform the space into a more intimate, friendly environment that cultivated conversation and relationship building.
Favorite touches
Because the networking dinner was focused on a much smaller group, the Bold Catering team conceptualized a sophisticated plated dinner.
Destination South is routinely tasked with thinking outside the box for their own clients, and the Bold team was excited for the opportunity to show them something they had never seen before. The menu featured a variety of interesting, upscale courses, including a gazpacho tasting to kick off the evening’s events, stuffed avocado and crab salad, seared scallops, and a key lime meringue “sunburst” for dessert.

The boxwood hedges surrounding the tables made the room feel more intimate, which is always desirable at a networking-focused dinner. To add to the atmosphere, the tablescape was completely on-brand for the company and its attendees and included branded menus, appropriate color coordination, and the opulence they are accustomed to providing at their own events.
