One of a Kind Food Presentation

More than ever, today’s event client is looking for one-of-a-kind design styles with details that truly impress their guests. The tricky part is that clients often don’t know what they want—just that it needs to be fresh and unique.

As professionals, it’s up to us to experiment with distinctive looks and find new ways to wow each and every client. This is especially important for food presentation, as basic styling techniques have grown tired and dated.

Let’s explore some ways we can elevate the culinary experience through careful presentation and design.

Creative serving dishes

Sleek, white service pieces are the go-to option for caterers and chefs, as the crisp background truly shows off the details of a meal. However, we’ve also seen a rise in stoneware for serving as the industry embraces more natural elements as a whole.

We’re thrilled to see more creativity in serving pieces too, with unique pieces like mini baskets displaying all sorts of delicacies. Try not to use everything as it was originally intended; small fry baskets, for example, can be used for many bite-size snacks and shouldn’t be limited by traditional use.

Eye-catching table design

Food presentation isn’t just about serving dishes; it also encompasses the design of the guest tables where the food is consumed. Consider ditching the traditional stainless steel utensils in favor of bolder metallics or matte hues. Even the tables themselves play a role—opt for mirrored or acrylic surfaces to mix things up as an extra creative way to present food.

Custom bars for everyone

The bar area is no longer a secondary station; instead, they are now becoming centerpieces for the event space. They aren’t just for drinks, either—they have become attention-grabbing hubs for food and desserts as well. Make it special by opting for an acrylic bar (always a popular choice) or adding a corporate logo to the display.

In terms of glassware, try jazzing it up with some funky options. Where Mason jars once stood front and center, we’re now seeing a shift to old-fashioned crystal dressed up with fun, colorful details like straws, ice cubes, or rock sugar. Colored glassware is also a favorite option for taking bar design to the next level.

No matter the theme, there is always a way to freshen up an event’s design through food and beverage presentation. Think outside the box and work closely with your client to determine the most cost-effective way to add a pop of color here or a unique texture there.
