Catering by Michaels annually does a Thanksgiving donation to a local shelter for 400 guests. However, because of COVID-19, Catering by Michaels had to look to outside support for assistance with the donation. Associated Bank and the Winnetka Board of Northwestern Settlement contributed donations towards the food costs. Catering by Michaels covered all of the labor and packaging for this donation.
Catering by Michaels was able to make 700 family meal kits for four. Each box included Herb Roasted Turkey Breast, Turkey Gravy, Corn Bread with Cranberries & Raisins, Rosemary Herb Stuffing, Traditional Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Autumn Vegetable Medley. All of these items were scratch made in our Kitchen. That is 2,450 pounds of turkey, 1,400 pounds of mashed potatoes, 87.5 gallons of turkey gravy, 1,575 pounds of cornbread, 1400 pounds of stuffing, 1,050 pounds of vegetables and 87.5 gallons of cranberry sauce. This equated to meals for 2,800 people.
