There’s a reason candlelit dinners are the embodiment of romance—the use of lighting plays a large part in the atmosphere of a space and can turn a client’s average event into something magical.

Whether it’s creative candle placement or dazzling uplighting, a number of different effects can be achieved simply by changing the light. Today’s trends shed some light on what is up-and-coming for the event lighting industry.

DIY lighting products

As couples begin to take on lighting as a DIY project, candles and LED lights have grown in popularity. While candles are a common choice for classic romance, LED technology is also in high demand, as it boasts long battery life, energy efficiency, and comes in every color of the rainbow.

Go green

As LED lights are extremely energy efficient, they are a great choice for couples that are looking to minimize their environmental footprint. However, there’s no need to fear for those who seek the soft crackling of a candlewick. While battery candles may be inherently ‘green,’ candles can be just as natural and clean if purchased from the right places. Soy, beeswax, and palm oil candles are all sustainable options for eco-friendly couples, as they burn cleaner than standard candles and are renewable.

Romantic displays

From rustic fireplaces to grand mantles, there’s just something about the warmth that comes from soft lighting. In fact, when displayed together, candles and their LED counterparts can bring about a dreamy feel to an event. While these fixtures may not be readily available at all venues, event designers are beginning to bring their creativity to the table by constructing decorative mantles or compact fire pits to fill with elegant candlelight.

Whimsical arrangements

Trees full of fairy lights and tea lights in mason jars all share one thing in common. They make for fun, playful ways to light up the night! Classic white pillars and candelabras are still great for an elegant feel, but some couples are opting for more creative touches when it comes to event lighting.

There are a number of unique ways to design lighting for maximum impact at your client’s event, so be open to exploring the countless possibilities and watch your vision come to life.
