Kari-Out , a leading manufacturer, importer and nationwide distributor of sauces, towelettes, paper, aluminum and plastic food containers in the restaurant industry today announced a series of new hires that bolster Kari-Out’s strategic and ongoing efforts to accelerate growth through product innovation, channel partner relations, and talented leadership. Ron Wade has joined the executive team at Kari-Out as Director of Logistics. Ray Walston joins Kari-Out as National Sales Manager and brings more than 20 years of successful experience in the foodservice industry. Joanie Wang joined Kari-Out in January 2021 as Director, Asian Channel sales division.  

                                                                                                                                                                                                             

The American Egg Board (AEB) has named Hema Prado to the newly created role of director of sustainability. Reporting to Dr. Mickey Rubin, executive director of the AEB’s Egg Nutrition Center, Prado will oversee development and administration of a comprehensive new sustainability program encompassing critical industry-level research and education initiatives with significant potential value to U.S. egg producers and their food industry customers.  The creation of the role and Prado’s recruitment reflect the AEB’s strategic commitment to serve as a partner and resource on sustainability, hen care and other corporate social responsibility issues of importance to egg industry customers. Prado brings twenty years of experience and passion for environmental, agricultural and health issues spanning government, nonprofits and the private sector, notably including her most recent positions with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). 

Hot Off the Presses

Today, the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort is thrilled to announce that Ember, its fine dining restaurant, has received Wine Spectator's esteemed "Best of Award of Excellence."  The honor recognizes recipients that offer extensive selections with excellent breadth across multiple regions and significant vertical depth, and Ember is now one of 19 restaurants (out of nearly 9,000) in Arizona – and one of approximately 1,000 around the world – to receive this award. Ember's wine program covers seventeen countries, focusing on each country's top wine-producing regions and most highly acclaimed vineyards.  It includes 517 wines by the bottle and 26 wines by the glass – ranging from a strong California presence to Barbaresco, Rioja, New Zealand, Argentina and Germany – along with 30 Dessert Wines from across the globe as well as 15 Ports and Madeiras.   

Association News

The National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) today announced that Kate Patay, CPCE will be presented with the association’s prestigious Icon Award. Patay will receive the award on Tuesday, August 3 during the Design Experience at the 2021 NACE Experience Conference at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada. The NACE Icon Award recognizes an industry professional who has made an impact through their company or personal efforts that advanced or made a significant contribution to the catering and events industry.  Kate Patay, CPCE is a recognized leader in the catering and events industry. She is the Chief Strategist at Patay Consulting, where she works with and consults for numerous companies and associations in the hospitality industry and beyond. Patay Consulting helps businesses and individuals identify and amplify their unique brand and message and specializes in event strategy and ambassador/influencer relationships. Her career began in Western NY, brought her to Las Vegas and later Reno, Nevada, where she currently resides while running a global business.  

                                                                                                                                                                                                             

The National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) today announced that The International School of Hospitality (TISOH) will receive a unique National Board Commendation for Exceptional Service to NACE. The award, never bestowed before, will be presented on Tuesday, August 3 during the NACE One Awards Gala at the NACE Experience Conference. The school’s core mission of quality service and professionalism, consistent with the hospitality industry’s standards, is a key component of all of TISOH’s work. TISOH is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET).
