LGBT Destinations that are On the Rise
February 23, 2016
As same-sex weddings are being welcomed in more locales, we’ve seen a clear increase in the number of LGBT couples taking their wedding away from home. Both destination wedding and honeymoon options have flourished, opening up to a vast number of possibilities.
So what destinations are on the rise in 2016?
Europe
Although a broad region, there’s no place quite as suitable for history-lovers as culturally rich cities like Barcelona and Venice. Between authentic cuisines, luxury accommodations, and historic attractions, Europe offers a wide array of experiences that will satisfy any traveler. With France’s movement to welcome same-sex couples, Paris is the perfect destination for those after a romantic holiday. Couples will love the opportunity to take in all the sights, flavors, and sounds of the City of Love.
New Zealand
Adventure-seekers from all around will enjoy celebrating their love in New Zealand, with its abundance of outdoor activities, breathtaking scenery, and travel opportunities. While there are a number of world-class resorts perfect for unwinding, this island paradise is certainly the ideal destination for those looking to take a walk on the wilder side.
New York
In addition to a smorgasbord of dining options and a number of top-rate hotels, the city that never sleeps boasts the theatre offerings of Broadway, unbeatable nightlife, and is a shopper’s paradise. With such a colorful, diverse population, New York City is perhaps one of the most welcoming and accepting communities in the world.
South Africa
Cape Town offers an unbelievable variety of experiences – from safari adventures and tastings at renowned vineyards to relaxing beach days followed by a celebratory nightcap in the bustling city. The diversity of this thriving metropolitan region paired with the beautiful landscape makes it one of the rising destinations among LGBT couples.
South America
Although Mexico and the Caribbean will be forever favorites for couples after a celebration in paradise, South America has increasingly become the ultimate destination for same-sex couples looking to tie the knot. Couples can take a bike ride in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil or trek up a summit in the Andes, only to unwind at a five-star resort at the end of the night. The possibilities are limitless!
2016 is quickly shaping up to be the year of adventure in the destination wedding market and now more than ever, LGBT couples have a wealth of options as they plan their “I Do’s.”
