Outside the Box Wedding Ideas
Pooch-friendly proposals
For the “save the date” announcement, suggest that couples make a cute sign that says: “My Humans are Getting Married!” Include your pooch in the engagement pictures. No dog wants to be left out of anything having to do with its master—unless it’s a bath.
On the big day, I have seen dogs as ring bearers, or escorts for the flower girl down the aisle, sign holder, or even carried down the aisle instead of the bouquet! To tie it all together, don’t forget the outfit! With a custom made tuxedo or a pretty pink tutu, they will sure be a stand out on the happiest day of your couple’s life!
A new twist on the typical cocktail hour
For the bridal party, cocktail hour is traditionally a time for photos, touch-ups, and a quick sip of champagne. The modern couple, however, recognizes the importance of using cocktail hour as a time to show off their inner foodies and offer some out-of-the-box, creative treats for their friends and family; and they don’t want to miss it! That’s why many catering companies will make the effort to bring sample platters of hors d’oeuvres and the ever-important specialty His & Hers cocktails to the couple. Here are some new creative items our foodie couples will see on their sample platters this season:
-Ahi Tuna Tacos
-Barbecue Chicken Sliders with Jalapeño
-Asian Chicken Salad and Steamed Pork Dumplings with Plum Dipping Sauce
-Gourmet Caramel Coated Popcorn and Local Micro-brews
-Quail Eggs Topped with Caviar
Unique wedding venues
Today’s couples want to make their own statement. Most do not want the typical ballroom or even typical the historical venues in most cities; throughout the country and around the world, more and more venues are popping up…and some of them are not typical: warehouses, car museums, galleries, museums, private clubs that allow outside caterers, Masonic temples, parking garages, zoos, seaquariums, rooftops, lofts, film studios, sculpture gardens, night clubs, and even pop up tents.
As caterers, one of the best ways to grow our businesses is to establish relationships with as many of these types of venues as possible. Why? Because like banks, that’s where the money is!!
