First, let’s talk po-boys. These classic New Orleans-style subs come in all shapes, sizes and flavors.

They’re filled with roast beef, fried shrimp or oysters, “dressed” with all the fixin’s—lettuce, tomato and pickles—and topped with sauce or mayonnaise. For the most unique options, try Cochon, just a six-minute walk from the Convention Center, or catch a ride to Parkway Bakery & Tavern. Some other great places to check out are Mother’s Restaurant on Poydras St. and Acme Oyster House in the French Quarter.

Speaking of iconic subs, add a muffuletta to your list. This Italian sub was born in New Orleans more than 100 years ago. It’s packed full of salami, ham, swiss cheese, provolone, olive salad and served on a round sesame roll big enough for sharing. For some of the best muffulettas in the city, check out Central Grocery Co. or Napoleon House.

Finally, a trip to the Big Easy isn’t complete without a night out on Frenchmen Street. This is a great spot to hear local musicians play throughout the night. This lively street is bursting with the sounds of jazz, blues, reggae and rock from every corner. Stop into The Spotted Cat or Blue Nile to enjoy music from local musicians and while you’re out enjoying your night, be sure to ask the bartender for a “go cup” so you can take your drink with you as stroll through the city.
New Orleans is the place to laissez les bons temps rouler—let the good times roll! Everyone is sure to find something they love when there is an endless supply of things to do, taste and see. Start planning your trip at NewOrleans.com/Catersource and start your next great story.
