Trend Alert: Neo-Mint and MOHO

Neo-mint and MOHO are the two trends on our mind as we approach summer and, although they may sound out of the ordinary, they will certainly become commonplace in the weddings and events that lie ahead. 

Let’s take a look at both of these up-and-coming trends and how they can make a splash in your future events. 

Neo-Mint 

Mint is back in the spotlight, but not as we know it from years past. Instead, neo-mint is filling in as a contemporary reimagining of the classic mint hue. Neo-mint is a more modern, moodier version of its peppy counterpart, and it evokes an earthier feel — which pairs well with the MOHO trend detailed below.

Neo-mint is a natural fit alongside other hues from the green and blue spectrums, but it’s just as striking paired with neutrals like champagne or soft blush.

“Cool and fresh, mint is a color sure to make a big impact in 2020,” assures Vaishali Shah of Ananya Cards. “In harmony with the colors of nature, it is like a breath of fresh air and optimism at a time when our trees and plant life are under threat. This gender-neutral color is the perfect pastel.”

Truly versatile, neo-mint can be the colorful pop to both dark and light palettes; much like the very-popular blush pink, we expect neo-mint to become a go-to shade for many couples.

MOHO

Simply put, MOHO is short for ‘modern bohemian’ — a theme that plays beautifully with the neo-mint palette. The MOHO trend is borne out of a blending between ethereal and abstract features for a soft yet impactful design. Think bold color palettes of saffron, cinnamon stick, and grape compote paired with soft, natural touches like pampas grasses, cotton linens, and rattan. It is where organic meets contemporary in all the very best ways, and is a beautiful way to breathe new life into a trend of the past.

You get your tried-and-true boho details, like macramé, lace, and baby’s breath, but you also get the vibrant jewel tones that have been taking over the industry like bright amethyst and sparkling ruby. Think lush floral crowns decked out with crystals or gilded accents. It truly is the best of both worlds.

“2019 was the year of boho weddings, vintage, and fine art,” says Chloé Atlan of Aava Wedding. “Pampas grass has been seen in many weddings and is set to last a few more years for the boho and casual ambience it brings.” 

Clementine Ward of AwardWeddings adds: “Natural colors such as cream will carry over, with cream tablecloths, draping for ceremony, and flowers such as pampas grass. Couples like airy arrangements.”
